Resources

Behavioral wellness is an important part of overall well-being. Older adults, individuals with disabilities, Veterans, and family caregivers may experience loneliness, anxiety, depression, grief, stress, changes in behavior, or other challenges that affect daily life.

Harbor & Haven Home Care, LLC provides non-medical in-home support that can complement a client’s existing health and behavioral health care.

How Non-Medical Home Care Can Help

Our caregivers may provide supportive assistance such as:

  • Companionship and social engagement
  • Assistance maintaining daily routines
  • Support with appropriate household and personal-care activities
  • Meal-related assistance
  • Respite for family caregivers
  • Encouragement to participate in appropriate activities and appointments
  • Observation and reporting of significant changes in a client’s condition or behavior

Our caregivers do not diagnose, counsel, prescribe medication, provide psychotherapy, or replace licensed behavioral-health professionals. When a change in behavior or well-being is observed, we encourage communication with the client’s family, authorized care team, physician, or behavioral-health provider.

Stafford County Behavioral Health Resources

Stafford County residents can access behavioral-health resources through the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board (RACSB).

RACSB provides publicly funded behavioral health, substance-use, developmental-disability, crisis, and supportive services for residents of Stafford County and the surrounding Planning District 16 communities.

Virginia 988 Crisis & Support

If you or someone you care for is experiencing a mental-health, emotional, or substance-use crisis, call or text 988.

Virginia’s 988 system can connect individuals with trained crisis counselors and, when appropriate, additional crisis services, including mobile crisis response and community-based stabilization. (DBHDS)

Call or Text: 988

For an immediate emergency Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department when there is an immediate threat to someone’s life or safety. Virginia’s emergency behavioral-health system also provides crisis assessment and intervention services. (DBHDS)

Northern Virginia Resources

Behavioral-health resources are organized locally, so families should contact the Community Services Board serving their locality.

Northern Virginia residents may access community behavioral-health systems serving areas such as Fairfax/Falls Church, Prince William/Manassas, Loudoun, Arlington, and Alexandria.

Virginia’s DBHDS Find Help resource can help families locate behavioral-health and substance-use resources based on their location. (DBHDS)

Caregiver Wellness Matters

Family caregivers should also pay attention to their own well-being. Consider seeking additional support when caregiving begins to interfere with sleep, employment, relationships, physical health, or emotional well-being.

Respite care may provide a temporary break while helping a loved one remain safely at home.

When You Need More Than Non-Medical Support

If a client’s needs become more complex, Harbor & Haven may encourage coordination with the client’s physician, licensed behavioral-health provider, case manager, family caregiver, or other appropriate professional.

Our goal is not to replace clinical care—it is to provide compassionate non-medical support that complements the client’s overall care plan.
